Brand logo tattoos mean engagement?

I don't know how close you are to combat sports but i really enjoy watching wrestling championships. And there is a great brand placement story in WWE. It is about Philipp Jack Brooks whose stage name is CM Punk.

He has an interesting life story. His father was an alcoholic and his childhood was not as a child dreamed. He started wrestling as his brother did. He quited the club as soon as he found out that his brother Mike had embezzled thousands of dollars from the small company, causing them to become estranged. He succeeded a great wrestling career and became the best. In his teenage, he accepted "straight edge" life style. Straight edge started within the hardcore punk sub-culture. A person who accepts this lifestyle always refrains from alcohol and tobacco products and drugs. CM Punk was a fan of hardcore punk band Minor Threat, which named "straight edge" term in a same named song in 1980.

Why am i writing about this guy?

He has a Pepsi logo tattoo on his left upper arm.And this is a topic, people are discussing about if it is a product placement or not. When the people discuss so much, it is usual to exist some urban legends. A few say that Pepsi tattoo was inspired by a fraternity joke. The others say that CM Punks brother and many fraternity members in his school had beer logo tattoos. And CM punk made a Pepsi logo tattoo to be different and to emphasize the straight edge. It is known that he is a keen Pepsi drinker.

CM Punk has a special move called as Pepsi Plunge. In June 2005, Punk accepted a deal with WME, after a try out match against Val Venis on its Sunday Night Heat Show. Although he accepted the deal, he went on to defeat Austin Aries with his Pepsi plunge move.

Pepsi logo tattoo became a symbol of CM Punk, which was used as the part of his Titantron entrance video.

According to wiki, this tattoo is a reference to former Minor Threat bands guitarist Brian Baker, who had a Coca Cola tattoo and explained this like "i like Coca Cola". CM Punk explained his own tatto likely, "I like Pepsi."

We are not sure if Pepsi placed the brand or not but we are all sure that Pepsi has sponsored some WME events, which some people think that this could be a reason for him getting the tattoo.

Even Pepsi made it or not, i think the best is that nobody knows if Punk made it on his own or not. This makes this move seem so mysterious that no one can tell "this is a sponsorship". There are some urban legends, people tell. And these make this "Pepsi logo tattoo" more viral.

I am not sure if i would have a "brand logo" tattoo. I guess i wouldn't. But a few days ago, i read that a man from USA tattooed a Twitter logo. Is not it strange? Would you do the same if you really loved a brand?

Can we call this as "great engagement of a brand to customer"?
